Director of Facilities & Maintenance
Lumpkin County Schools is seeking applicants for a Director of Facilities & Maintenance.
Job Summary:
The Director of Maintenance oversees the operation, repair, and upkeep of all district facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and functional learning environment. This role manages maintenance staff, coordinates work orders and preventive maintenance, and ensures compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and district standards.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance
- Be physically present at worksite to perform duties
- Interact in a professional manner with all persons
- Maintain confidentiality of records, reports, information
- Work cooperatively with parents, colleagues, administrators
- Model the correct use of language, oral and written
- Conduct assigned duties in a timely manner
- Participate in professional development as needed
- Participate in staff meetings as determined by the Associate Superintendent
- Supervise all aspects of the system maintenance program
- Show initiative and assume responsibility for all aspects of the job; perform routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision
- Prioritize work order requests and respond to each in a timely manner
- Assign work to the maintenance staff in a manner that best uses time and skills of staff
- Maintain safety standards for department staff by communicating and monitoring procedures to conform with federal, state, and insurance requirements
- Maintain maintenance equipment
- Inspect facilities and grounds routinely to identify areas requiring maintenance
- Process paperwork required for daily operations of department in a timely manner
- Ensure that payroll and leave information is properly documented and submitted
- Assist the Director of Operations in developing and managing the maintenance budget
- Manage purchases of the maintenance department
- Respond to after-hour calls as needed
- Participate in appropriate training and workshops and apply information to the job
- Evaluate personnel as assigned according to system policy
- Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records and file reports promptly
- Abide by state and system policies
- Abide by federal, state, local and system policies and laws
- Complete any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee
Salary Range: $40,000–$75,000, commensurate with years of credible, verifiable experience.
