Senior JROTC Army Instructor
Lumpkin County Schools is now accepting applications for a Senior JROTC Instructor at Lumpkin County High School for the 2025-2026 school year.
Assume responsibility for quality implementation of the JROTC program; provide quality instruction based on the JROTC curriculum; assess student progress; manage the learning environment.
A Senior Army Instructor (SAI) is the chief instructor and department chairperson for a JROTC unit. They are responsible for managing the JROTC program, including instruction, administration, and operations. Some of their duties include:
· Teaching: Instructing students and leading the JROTC program
· Managing: Managing the JROTC unit budget, including approving expenditures and submitting pay changes
· Advising: Advising school authorities on policy and regulation changes
· Public affairs: Promoting understanding of JROTC, the school, and the Army in the local community
· Enrolling: Enrolling students in JROTC
· Training: Preparing weekly training schedules and participating in community service events
· Counseling: Counseling cadets and cadre when needed
· Assessments: Administering fitness assessments and writing recommendations for applicants to military academies
· Nominations: Preparing and submitting nominations for cadets seeking appointments to colleges and military academies
SAIs should be a Commissioned Officer or Warrant Officer, have a BA/BS degree and be certified by the US Army Cadet Command. They should also have excellent communication skills, organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to work with diverse groups.
SAIs may work outside of regular school hours, including weekends, and their work week can exceed 50 hours. They may also be required to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, pull, push, reach, and make repetitive hand motions.
